Associate Professor Fiona Mackie

Paediatric Nephrologist

My Story

Associate Professor Fiona Mackie (conjoint) is a consultant paediatric nephrologist with over 24 years experience as a specialist at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. Dr Mackie graduated from University of Sydney with an MB BS and subsequently obtained her PhD there. Her postgraduate training included a fellowship in paediatric nephrology at Stanford University, California.

 

Fiona is the former Chair of the Australian Paediatric Nephrology Association and former Secretary of the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand. She is currently the Honorary Secretary of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association.

 

She has a strong clinical and research interest in transplantation and chronic kidney disease with numerous publications and has had key involvement in development of deceased donor kidney allocation policies in Australia.

 

Dr Mackie sees patients with a wide range of kidney problems in her consulting rooms including antenatally diagnosed kidney issues, recurrent urine infections, nephrotic syndrome, hypertension, day/night wetting and chronic kidney disease.

 

When not working, Fiona enjoys bushwalking, swimming, cooking, bookclubs and practising her French.
